There are currently no plans to support AZTEC 2D barcodes. Do you have a link to any specification for this font.

By October 1st, the FreeFlow VI Interpreter 4.0 (re-brand name for the VIPP Core) will be available. This version will support the following 2-D barcodes:
DataMatrix
Maxicode
PDF417

Can you use one of these?
Can you explain what characteristic AZTEC has that is not supported by one of these others. Who uses AZTEC?

PLease reply to this DL, but also contact your local analyst and have him submit a CPR for this request.

good bye VIPP, hello FFVI?

Figures, once we finally know what a acronym means and have come to love it, it must be changed to something new.

igor,
Not sure AZTEC is a 2-D bar code. From what I have seen by a quick search on the Web it looks like another barcode of the same vein as EAN or CODE39. So me be you can just install a font and use it with SETFONT/SH or the like. If some transform is needed between the input data and the string to image the barcode then we may need to implement such transform.

VIPPGuy,
You are not completely right. VIPP remains in the loop as the name of the language but FFVII is now the name of the interpreter. This is similar to PostScript being a language but your printer may be equipped with an 'Adobe PostScript Interpreter' or an 'XYZ PostScript interpreter'.

Hello guys, nice to talk to you again.
Concerning AZTEC, I suppose customer searched internet for 2D barcodes and picked the first one in the aplabetical list. I am trying to convince them to go with PDF417, but they are a big bank and "they know everything the best".
AZTEC is really 2D barcode and looks pretty good. The producer is MW6 Technologies, Inc. and more you can find at

Thanks for the pointer. It seems very similar to the DATAMATRIX so you may suggest they choose it instead. See comments about it at
http://www.adams1.com/pub/russadam/stack.html It seems to be more robust than AZTEC.

This is one and single discussion about AZTEC barcode in this forum.
We have to use this barcode for the simple reason that printed documents going to the bank.

is there any changes since 2005 in plans to support AZTEC 2D barcode?

thanks beforehand
Paul

No changes. Currently there is no support for AZTEC 2D barcodes.

DataMatrix is a similar barcode, can you use this?

You may also want to look into raising a CP/R (Customer Request) that can then make it into future development plans.

Would you please contact your Xerox analyst and ask her/him to submit a CP/R. We need a formal request with business impact and priority assessment to include it in our development schedule.
Placing a request in this forum is not enough because we need more information to decide which new features will be added in the next release.
