Previously, I believe it was DocuSP 6.0, we were able to use a save queue to produce TIFF images we could use in VIPP. We needed this as we had a project that had hundreds of hi res PDF files to include in the print job, and decomping them was the only method efficient enough to process at full print speed.
However, on our new IGen4 with DocuSP 7, the TIFF images created with a save queue do not appear to be useable. They will not render in VI Designer, PDF Originator and will not open in Photochop CS3. Any suggestions? |

Can you post a link to one of these images ?

Can I email the link? I am hesitant to place customer artwork in a public forum.
Also, I just tested a decomp with all the same settings (as much as I could) on our 8000 running the same software, and the image works, except it is a larger physical size than the 8000 allows, so it is still not usable. |

No need for specific customer artwork. Any demo job will be OK. Submit /usr/xgf/demo/billb.lm to a save queue and post the link to that image.

Here is a sample PDF decomped.
I got an imaging error when I tried to decomp billb.lm red_one.pdf.p00000001.zip (66 KB, 4 downloads) |

I would like to add (besides on more post) that through the FreeFLow interface on the printer controller, the saved job(s) cannot be previewed.

Why don't you convert the PDF to Postsacript files (*.ps) and include it in your job as FORM

I don't know the worflow that you use but there are many software that can convert the PDF to tif manually or throuhg hotfolder/patch .. PDF2image is a good one.
and some works as driver like pixview Pasha |

It is also possible just to save a PDF as a Tiff image using Acrobat, it works great with Vipp... This of course requires that you have a full license for Acrobat

yes save the PDF as tiff or Jpg will work but subjected to loose quality and slower ! ps is more faster and not losing any quality!

I was unable to recreate this problem on various versions of FFPS. I used CP.72.91.31.86 on an iGen4 and CP.72.93.25.86 on a DC 5000. The process I followed was to create a new queue and set the destination to 'Save' with 'Single Page Tiff' selected as the format. Using both the provided red_one PDF as well as a few others I had, they all saved correctly. It is possible that this has been fixed in a later software version than the one you are using. Please work with your local analyst to either upgrade to a later release or submit a SPAR so the problem can be investigated further.

Our analyst has recreated the problem on a system 1 igen4, and claims that is is fixed in the system 2 release.
we are getting a second igen4 in this week that will come with system 2, so I plan to do some testing on that. thanks guys! --jason |
