The FreeFlow VI Designer is a VIPP Programmers Interactive Design Environment (IDE) for the VIPP language. You are able to design applications driven from line data (Mainframe type data), XML and Delilmited data. It is the most powerful, full featured design tool for the VIPP language. It does require someone with experience in the VIPP Language in order to use the VI Designer. Your local analyst would be more than happy to demonstyrate for you.
The VIPP Pro Publisher we designed to bring the power, performance and flexibility of the VIPP language into the graphic arts world. The VIPP Pro Publisher design tool is a plug-in to Adobe InDesign. It allows you to design variable data applications driven from a delimited data file. It is completley drag & drop and menu driven, much like Adobe InDesign and as such no knowledge of the VIPP language is required, yet the application outputs VIPP Pro code in a single compressed container file called a VI Project Container - that can be sent directly to the FFPS - to print faster than traditional per-composition VI applications. There is no pre-composition step using the VIPP Pro Publisher and this can save you hours in your workflow. The VIPP Pro Publisher will run on a Windows PC or an intel Mac. You can go to www.xerox.com and search for the VIPP Pro Publisher to download a 30 day free trial. |

There has been no reported problems in the many units downloaded or shipped so far - so I suspect either a corrupted install or you are doing something incorrect. If the download included the User Guide, please review the Hints and Tips section as there is a guide there that takes you through data import and variable data placement on the page.
Basically once you have imported your data and see it in the Data Object window - for a text field, draw a text frame, with that text frame active, select the field you want to place and double click it. |

Dear Dave,
In our Company we use VIPP version 4.2 to provide variable data printing. Also we use HLC 180 and Docu print 180 to print them. We want to move in VI suite applications. I research about VI Suite and i think we need following application from VI Suite package: 1- VI Designer: To design structure of .DBM or .JDT files 2- VI PDF Orginator: possibility to have an electoronic version for archive or e-mail Please advise me about: 1- Is above deduction true? 2- Do i need to VI Interpreter and Why? 3- Our HLC 180 printer doesn't have any interpreter on free flow, what does we need to setup on it? I would appreciate if you please advise me. hr |

You have done very well.
You have VIPP 4.2 on your DocuSP controller. This is now several years old and we have added a lot more capability to the VIPP Language. A few years ago, The VIPP Interpreter software (that gets installed on the printer) along with other VIPP Tools were re-branded under the FreeFlow name. The term FreewFlow VI Suite (FF VI Suite)was introduced to be an umbrella for all the various VI components that are available. On October 1st, Xerox launched the FreeFlow VI Suite 8.0 series of VI Products, I have listed them below:- FF VI Interpreter 8.0 - this is the interpreter that interprets the JDT, BDM, etc on the printer (The same as the VIPP Interpreter). It would be recommended to upgrade from VIPP 4.2 to this current release. The FF VI PDF Originator 8.0 is a production level VIPP to PDF Product that can be sent the same VIPP job you send to the printer, but instead of paper, it produces Adobe PDF. Further if required it can split the PDF file into child PDF files (based on account number or other logical boundary). It also has a Dispatch module that can be configured to automatically (or manually) move the PDF to the next step in the process, for example an email server. The FF VI Designer 8.0 is a powerful VIPP Application design tool. It is a programmers Interactive Design Environment for the generation of VIPP applications based on delimited data, line data or XML data. Knowledge of the VIPP Programming language is required. The FF VIPP Pro Publisher 8.0 is a drag and drop (no programming required) VIPP application design tool for delimited data type applications. It is a plug-in to Adobe InDesign CS3/CS4 (Windows or Intel Mac). There are additional tools such as VI Projects Manager - a Windows based VI Projects Manager tool (this is also available on later FFPS systems) VIPPManage - provides the ability to drive VIPP on Xerox Office devices FF VI Explorer 8.0 - A simple viewing tool for VIPP applications. I would recommend you engage a local Xerox representative to discuss your requirements further. Hope this helps Dave Kirk |
